Hi, I'm William

As a grad student in the Pehlevan Group, I study neural networks and their properties on simple reasoning tasks. I’m fascinated by abstract cognition, and the interplay between conceptual and perceptual processing in neural networks. In the past, I studied in-context learning in MLPs and designed curricula for behavior shaping. Even earlier, I worked on nonlinear image decoding from retinal ganglion cell data.

Outside of school, I love boardgames. My current favorites are Sidereal Confluence, Captain Sonar, and Dune: Imperium. If you’re ever in the Cambridge area, please do swing by and play some games! I also enjoy running, cooking, reading, and hope to add blogging to this list. ☕
